有客有客字子美，
白頭亂髮垂過耳。
歲拾橡栗隨狙公，
天寒日暮山谷裏。
中原無書歸不得，
手脚凍皴皮肉死。
鳴呼一歌兮歌已哀，
悲風爲我從天來。

A refugee, a refugee here I am,
White hair dishevelled, hanging about my ears;
Picking acorns, not to feed monkeys;
Though the day is cold and dusk is falling in the valley.
No news from the central plains-impossible to return.
Hands and feet chapped, frozen numb.
Alas! this, my first song, full of sorrow,
Calling down a mournful wind from the sky.
